Where I stand, and when that moved.

Each of these states a position, the reasoning under it, the work that taught me it, and where it breaks. They are dated on publication and numbered permanently. When one changes I log the change rather than quietly folding it in, and when I come to hold the opposite view the old one stays up with a notice pointing at what replaced it. A record you can edit silently is not a record.
